MnemoHermes installs Hermes Agent and connects it to your vaults. You message it on Telegram, or you talk to it out loud in the app. It searches your memory and answers.
The cockpit
What it is
An autonomous agent, installed with one button.
Hermes Agent is an autonomous agent published by Nous Research. It has a terminal, a browser, skills it writes for itself, and gateways to messaging apps. Usually you install it in a terminal and set it up in a configuration file.
MnemoHermes does that work for you. You click "Install the assistant". The app downloads a pinned Hermes release, checks its fingerprint, installs it and connects your memory to it.
Hermes becomes your assistant. Mnemosyne OS gives it your memory: your courses, your documents, your notes.
Hermes Agent is built and published by Nous Research, under the MIT licence.

The voice note is transcribed on your computer. Hermes rereads your notes on the topic and drafts three versions. You pick one and post it yourself.

Hermes has a real terminal. Before a risky command, it shows you the command and waits for your approval.
Telegram
Your Telegram bot talks to your computer.
You create a bot with @BotFather, inside Telegram. You paste its token in the cockpit's Channels tab. The bot is then linked to Hermes, which runs on your computer.
You type, or you send a voice note. The voice note is transcribed on your machine. Hermes searches your vaults and answers in text, or out loud if you choose.
Your computer has to stay on, with the Hermes gateway running. The cockpit starts and stops it.

Voice mode
Say "ask Hermes to …" and it gets to work.
In the app, open the voice assistant, the orb. Tell it: "Ask Hermes to summarise this week's customer feedback." The orb hands the task to Hermes.
The orb follows the task and tells you out loud how it is going. When it is done, it reads you the result. You say "stop" to stop it. It speaks with the voice from Settings › Voice: XTTS on your computer, or ElevenLabs with your key.
An image or a document Hermes made opens full size. You choose the vault to keep it in, or you throw it away.
If you do not name Hermes, the orb answers you itself, as usual. The cockpit's Chat tab has a microphone too, and its replies can be read aloud.
You stay in charge
Hermes acts. You decide.

⚠ Careful with the fully unlocked mode
In fully unlocked mode (YOLO), Hermes gets its terminal on every channel and stops asking for your approval. This mode is not recommended on a machine that holds important data. The app asks you to confirm twice before turning it on.
Install it
Five steps, about 30 minutes.
- 01 Mnemosyne OS 1.6 Download and install version 1.6.0 or later.
- 02 Add MnemoHermes MnemoHub → "Add an external cartridge" → "A repository". Paste the repository address.
- 03 Install the assistant In the cockpit, "Install the assistant". About four minutes.
- 04 Link Telegram Create a bot with @BotFather. Paste its token in Channels.
- 05 Talk to it Message your bot, or tell the orb: "ask Hermes to …".

Questions
What people ask before installing it.
- How do I query my memory from my phone?
- Install MnemoHermes in Mnemosyne OS, then the Hermes assistant from its cockpit. Link a Telegram bot in the Channels tab. You message the bot. Hermes searches your vaults, on your computer, and answers.
- Does my computer have to stay on?
- Yes. Hermes and your memory run on your computer. The phone only receives the answers. If the computer is asleep, the bot does not answer.
- How much does it cost?
- MnemoHermes is free, under the MIT licence. Hermes Agent is free too. The model that does the thinking is paid separately: your own key, a local model, or Mnemosyne OS credits. An agent makes several calls per question, so set a token cap in the cockpit settings.
- Can Hermes write my social media posts?
- It drafts versions from your notes and sends them to you on Telegram. You pick the right one and post it yourself.
- What about other messaging apps?
- The cockpit sets up the main Telegram bot. It also shows the other messaging apps configured in Hermes, which you set up in its configuration file.
- Can Hermes touch my files?
- Yes, it has a real terminal. Before a risky command, it asks for your approval, and the question arrives on your dashboard. The three presets decide which tools it may use. The fully unlocked mode (YOLO) turns these approvals off.
- Is this the same project as mnemosyne-hermes?
- No. mnemosyne-hermes is a different project, by a different author, that installs inside Hermes. MnemoHermes is a Mnemosyne OS cartridge that drives Hermes from the app.
